Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)
In accordance with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) was established.
Initially, the SECP was in charge of capital market and corporate sector regulation. The supervision and regulation of insurance businesses, non-banking finance companies, and private pensions have all been added to its mandate throughout time. Various outside service providers to the corporate and financial sectors, such as chartered accountants, credit rating agencies, corporate secretaries, brokers, surveyors, etc., are also under the SECP’s purview.
The SECP recognizes the strategic value of investor education in fostering financial literacy for the defence of investors’ rights as well as in enhancing investors’ financial aptitude so they can make wise investment decisions.
